Eur Ing Dr Steven Naylor BEng PhD PGCLT CEng MIMechE FHEA
Professor of Aerospace Engineering
Director of Education & Co-Founder of iLearn Engineering®
Subject Areas: Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
Teaching Interests: Aircraft Performance and Design, Structural Mechanics and Dynamics
Steven graduated from the University of Manchester, UK in 1992 with a First Class BEng Degree in Aerospace Engineering. Following this he was awarded his PhD at the same University in Mechanical Engineering for his research in developing the Resonant Decay Method (RDM) for identifying non-proportional damping in structures.
This was followed with several years working in the automotive industry in an R&D capacity, where he developed novel engineering systems such as a time domain vibro-acoustic transfer path analysis technique, sound synthesis software, wavelet analyses and design optimisation strategies using genetic algorithms.
Following this, he moved to academia as a Senior Lecturer within the Higher Education field teaching on a variety on engineering courses and where he became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. During this tenure, he developed new higher education qualifications for the university in aerospace engineering and enterprise before leaving and eventually establishing iLearn Engineering® as one of two co-founders of in 2021.
Steven is a Chartered Engineer, a Member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and has been registered as a European Engineer (Eur Ing) since 2003.
