What You Will Learn

Level 4 starts you off with foundation subjects of engineering mathematics, engineering science and engineering design & ethics. You then go on to study engineering mechanics and dynamics. These are then supplemented with optional units of your choice.

At Level 5 and Level 6, engineering education moves beyond fundamental principles, allowing learners to specialise in key areas of engineering management, operations, and emerging technologies. What Will I Study?

The International Graduate Diploma in Engineering Management (Level 6) comprises 360 credits:

  1. The first 120 credits follow the syllabus of the Higher International Certificate in Engineering (EduQual level 4).
  2. A further 120 credits is then studied which follows the syllabus of the Higher International Diploma Engineering (EduQual level 5).
  3. The remaining 120 credits are at level 6 and follow the International Graduate Diploma in Management.

Level 4

Core Units

Engineering Design and Ethics – to help you to develop your engineering design skills.

Engineering Maths – so that you develop your mathematical skills that you will need to succeed with the rest of your course.

Engineering Science – to give you a grounding in the science that underpins the engineering that you will study.

Specialist Units

Structural Mechanics & Dynamics – in this unit you will study topics such as forces, stress, statics dynamics and machine theory and practice.

+2 Optional Units

You will have access to a range of optional units, so that you can study topics that interest you. These may even lie outside the field of mechanical engineering such as electrical, aerospace, or manufacturing engineering.


Level 5

Core Units

Research Skills and Project Management [60 credits] ​– This is a significant engineering project that you will undertake. We will firstly give you the tools and knowledge on how projects are managed. You will then deliver a project brief, and progress to lead a complex, independent, and engineering related research project.  In doing this, you will develop your ability to apply critical thinking skills to analyse engineering scenarios.

Engineering Management – here you will learn the important tools and responsibilities of being in a management position within the engineering industry. You will learn skills such as Project Management and cost and risk analysis, But also the wider social and economic impacts of engineering companies.

+2 Optional Units

You will have access to a range of optional units, so that you can study topics that interest you. These may even lie outside the field of mechanical engineering such as electrical, aerospace, or manufacturing engineering.

 


Level 6

Core Units

Further Engineering Mathematics you will develop your mathematical skills further enabling you to gain a deeper understanding of how mathematics is used to model and analyse engineering problems.

Specialist Units

Business, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship develops a critical understanding of key business principles, focusing on economics, SMEs, and entrepreneurship. Learners will explore the economic foundations of business, strategies for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and the role of entrepreneurship in the global economy. Additionally, the unit examines leadership and management theories, equipping students with the skills to effectively lead entrepreneurial ventures.

Operations and Supply Chain Management explores the principles and strategies for designing, managing, and optimising operations and supply chains, particularly in engineering contexts. Learners will develop critical skills in operations strategy, process design, inventory management, logistics, and procurement, while also examining the role of technology and sustainability in improving efficiency and reducing environmental impact. By the end of the unit, students will be equipped to assess and implement operations strategies, enhance supply chain performance, utilise data-driven decision-making, and integrate sustainable practices into global supply chains.

+1 Optional Unit

 You will have access to a range of optional units, so that you can study topics that interest you. These may even lie outside the field of mechanical engineering such as electrical, aerospace, or manufacturing engineering.

 


To be awarded an International Graduate Diploma in Engineering (Level 6), you must successfully complete the above 360 credits.

Is this course accreditated?

Yes, the International Graduate Diploma in Engineering Management (Level 6) is accredited by IEAC to be a 360 credit level 6 qualification.

IEAC is a globally recognised UK Accreditation Body.

 

Are there any entry requirements?

This qualification is open access and starts with the level 4 Higher International Certificate for the first 120 credits. There are no formal entry requirements. We will teach you the required maths and science skills necessary to be successful on the rest of the qualification.

All our courses are delivered in English language, so you must be competent in learning technical information in English.

How long will it take to complete?

Typically, most learners take between 2 and 4 years when studying on a part time basis.

However, as these are distance learning engineering courses, you are in control of your own learning schedule and so you have the freedom to complete the course in your own timescale. Therefore our online engineering courses can be completed more quickly depending on your existing commitments and/or your existing knowledge.
